~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey there,first of all i want to introduce myself, actually im playing daggerspell on the Dahuta EU server behind the nick-name of Exe, and i want to share everything i know about this class (Skills,Utility,Counters etc)
I also want to say sorry for my English if it sounds poor sometimes ^^.
Lets start with a basic explanation of what dagerspell is , CONS and PROS.
About
About daggerspell:
Daggerspell is a mage type class, based on CC the enemy and use long cast-time skills with high damage.
You always want to start the fight , or react fast enough if you get ganked and turn the situation to your side.
It is very powerfull class on good hands, but at the same time, easy to counter if played poorly.
Pros:
Crazy amounts of damage, you can 1 shot people.
It works very well on 2vs1 situations if played correctly.
Massive Burst damage.
You can CC lock enemy to death.
A lot of different rotations.
Fun class with many skills
Cons:
Squishy if you dont know how to move.
Long cast-time skills, you will be interrupted many times.
Low ping dependent.
Mana-dependent.
It is a hard class to start with.
It may take time until you learn all your combos.
Everyone wants your head.
Points
Lets explain why we take/we dont take some of the points.
Sorcery:
-
Flamebolt Is your basic source of DPS (mainly pve) not much to explain.
-
Freezing Arrow Is a medium-cast time skill, you want to use this on zerg pvp’s when both zergs are facing on long range and your other skills are on CD/you waiting for a good moment to combo them. In combination of
Flamebolt (
Flamebolt->
Freezing Arrow) good amount of damage. Long cast time, never use it on 1v1 unless the enemy is cc’ed or you will be interrupted. Use it or not, is up to you.
-
Insulating Lens This gives you enough survavility to contrast your low p.def, it is really important to rebuff it everytime you get the chance.50 Cloth daggerspell only get like 700~~ p.def, this buff gives you 1000 extra p.def and inmunity against trip. This is a must.
-
Arc Lightning Your hardest hitter, combo with
Chain Lightning, long cast, hard damage.
-
Freezing Earth Slow/snare with good amounts of damage, it cost a lot of mana so be care. This is very usefull when you trying to kite 2vs1, but the chance to snare is really low and it only last for 2~ seconds so it isn’t a big deal.
-
Searing Rain If you jump into the middle of the pvp and try to cast this you will probably get BBQ’d in less than 2 seconds.
-
Frigid Tracks This is a good skill for 1v1 arenas because of the instant
Freezing Arrow and can be a great combo with
Meteor Strike(1Shot combo) but you will want some other source of skills on your trees so we taking this off, you can take this if you feel like is going to help you, but you will not have enough points for the rest of the important skills.
-
Magic CircleMain source of burst, boost your magic attack and crit, you will use this in combination of CC to set up a long cast time skill like
Meteor Strike or
Arc Lightning for max damage. If you leave the circle the effect dissapears. Always set it on zerg pvp no matter what, you will be boosting your allies.
-
Chain LightningAnother of your main skills , good damage, instant cast, combo with
Arc Lightning and
Dahuta’s Breath and it bounces beetwen 5 targets applying Electric Shock on everyone, this is the main reason why you remove your pet when you fighting a sorcerer.
-
Flame Barrier Not bad, but this doesnt fit on this setup.
-
Meteor StrikeYour omgpleasenerf skill. Insane damage, and trip the enemy when it hits, 5 seconds cast time and the only way to set up this correctly on pvp is with the help of
Lassitude, we will go deeper into combos later.
-
Magic Range BoostI need to explain this?
-
Efficient Sorcery
Mana Pool Increase You dont need mana for pvp.
-
Mana FlurryYou dont ”really” need cast time because your objective is to disable and kill.
-
RecuperationSimply no.
-
Magic PrecisionWe are not building crit so we dont take this.
-
Aranzeb’s InfusionThis works with other builds, but we need the points on the others trees. Dont worry, you dont become useless because you take this off.
Witchcraft
-
Enervate+
Earthen Grip Main combo of this tree,earthen grip become inta-cast because we taking
Augment Witchcraft. Amazing damage +root+self-heal.
-
Bubble Trap One of your main disables.
-
Insidious Whisper Fast cast time fear, pretty basic but effective.
-
Purge The m.def is not the only utility here, you will be fighting fear/sleep inmunity targets a lot of times, and this may be your salvation , you can cancell that buff and start your CC lock combo. When you fighting mages you can silence them or prevent a primeval/dark runner blink/escape (
Overwhelm->
Shadowsmite->
Purge is a great insta-cast CC combo) You can also clean some important debuffs such as bubble/sleep if your healer gets cc’ed.
-
Play Dead This is your most op skill as daggerspell, you want to glide into the zerg and play dead. The enemys will think you are dead meanwhile they see the PLAY DEAD cast on big letters. NO.
-
Courageous Action Anti fear/sleep. The description is bugged, it doesn’t remove fears or sleeps when the effect is already running on you, you want this up on you always, and if possible, on your healer aswell.
-
Lassitude Here is when the fun part of daggerspell comes. Lassitude is a insta-cast 10 seconds sleep, it will allow you to rebuff
Insulating Lens or use
Meteor Strike properly on 1v1. You will 2v1 people easy with this skill, sleep one, bubble another, cast meteor.
-
Banshee Wail AOE Fear, this is a great skill in combination of
Shadow Step for iniciate the fight when your enemy already saw you.
-
Focal Concussion Insta cast stun. It allows you to set-up
Dahuta’s Breath properly or start a cc-lock combo. You want to use this a lot.
Dahuta’s Breath Great damage and it push the enemys back. It will save your ass in many situations, amazing damage if you combo with
Chain Lightning .
-
Folding Time We dont take CD’s on this build.
-
Illusion’s Favor Nope.
-
Magic Detection You have enough m.def with purge, you may take this for GHA if you want but not for pvp.
-
Mitigation Nope.
-
Baleful Recharge Good for pve, but you want pots for pvp not mana sustain.
-
Augment Witchcraft Totally needed, increases duration of every CC on this tree, makes
Earthen Grip insta cast and reduce the
Insidious Whisper Cast time.
-
Enshroud Not enough points.
Shadowplay
-
Overwhelm 5 meters insta cast stun, it has a short animation and you can get interrupted before the attack arrives.
-
Drop Back Your only escape ability, use it smart. Also it brings you some nice dps with
Flamebolt
-
Stalker’s Mark This compensates the damage we loss from
Aranzeb’s Infusion.
-
Stealth It is a must for open world pvp.
-
Shadowsmite Shackle, pain in the ass for melee/archers and it will silence people if we use
Purge after it, as i said we will go deep in combos later .
-
Freerunner Meh, maybe for 1v1 primevals but not for general pvp, 80% of your skills are cast time abilitys, not much time to kite.
-
Shadow Step Allows you to set-up
Banshee Wail properly, and it has a 50% chance to reset. You can also use it as an escape if you use it on your allies, or yourself for the speed buf.
Mechanics/Combos
Mechanics/Combos:
Your class is a CC combo-based mage. Probably when you start learning it you will notice it isn’t so simple as it looks. You have way more combos than just Sleep>Meteor. Lets take a look here.
One shot combo:
-
Shadow Step->
Focal Concussion->
Banshee Wail->
Lassitude->
Magic Circle->
Meteor Strike->
Bubble Trap->(Before bubble arrives)
Chain Lightning->
Arc Lightning
The most popular combo, basically a death-lock combo. It works for almost every class (Battlerage can get rid of bubble, and the duration of sleep is 50% less on cloth users so be care)
Insta-cast bump:
-
Stalker’s Mark->
Chain Lightning->
Focal Concussion->
Dahuta’s Breath->(If the enemy uses shrug it off
Enervate->
Drop Back->
Earthen Grip wait for it to goes off)then
Overwhelm->
Shadowsmite->
Drop Back->
Flamebolt
This is a insta cast combo. Works nice when you dont want to sleep>meteor or when you fighting a fear/sleep inmunity target. You can kill plates in seconds with this combo.
I believe i can fly combo:
Shadow Step->
Overwhelm->
Shadowsmite->
Purge->
Flamebolt->
Bubble Trap->
Arc Lightning->
Chain Lightning->
Dahuta’s Breath
This is a great combo on mirror fights (Sorcery-Witchcraft vs Sorcery-Witchcraft), we will use this in the case we dont cancell
Courageous Action with
Focal Concussion or
Purge. The enemy will go really high with bubble because of flamebolt and he will take fall damage.
Bait combo:
Enervate->
Shadow Step->
Focal Concussion->
Drop Back->
Earthen Grip->
Arc LightningOR
Meteor StrikeCANCELL ANIMATION ->
Overwhelm->
Shadowsmite->
Purge->
Flamebolt->
Bubble Trap.
This is a little harder to execute. I mainly use this for battlerages/Witchcraft. The reason of this combo is to bait his bondbreaker (Anti-bubble) And his Shrug it off (Anti-stun). We will force him to cast bondbreaker trying to cast
Arc Lightning or
Meteor Strike from a safe distance, he will end up using it or he may eat a big meteor, then we cancell the animation moving and we start our lock combo.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This are some of the based/basic combos, from here on you need to learn your rotations and make your own.

Daggerspell

Match up’s:

Probably if you have time playing this game you noticed this is a counter-based pvp game. Each tree/combination has a counter and each counter has another counter. It’s like a food Chain. This doesn’t mean you can’t beat those classes, it means you will need to put more effort to beat some certain classes, and you will feel like fighting lowbies with some others. You have a lot of ways to defeat all classes, and what im going to explain right here is just some tips/rotations from my personal experience, you dont have to follow this on every single fight, i will just explain fights vs the common combination of classes, i will not go in-depth because there are so many combinations that it will be impossible to explain everything, anyways you will apply almost the same strategy with some variations.

Also i want to say this is a 1v1 arena-based PVP strategies .So I will explain all this taking note that you basically fighting an enemy that knows who you are and is ready for fight you back aswell (and he is a decent player), so you are not ganking a PVE-boy from stealth meanwhile he is farming mobs or something like that .

Lets explain some of the match-ups here.

Daggerspell VS Dagerspell (Sorcery-WitchCraft-Shadowplay)

First of all this is what we call a mirror match. Everything depends of the strategy used and RNG. The most common is that he will try to cancell your

Courageous Action with

Purge

Focal Concussion and start a lock combo, so he will go

Shadow Step->

Focal Concussion->

Purge->

Banshee Wail, what you want to do here is right after he uses

Focal Concussionuse yours focal and then

Drop Backand rebuff your

Courageous Action and start the counter-attack with

Shadow Step->

Overwhelm->

Shadowsmite->

Purge. From here on you can go fear if you successfully cancelled his

Courageous Action, if not just go

Flamebolt

Bubble Trap

If he tries to cast

Bubble Trap or

Insidious Whisper just use

Shadow Step and you will cancell the animation.

Never use

Overwhelm before he waste

Focal Concussion or he will stop you in mid-air without get stuned.

Dagerspell VS Primeval (Archery-Shadowplay-Auramancy)

Probably one of the hardest match-ups for you. The only thing he needs to do is keep safe-range. What you looking here is the mistake, force him to do a mistake and then take advantage from it. Basically the only way to get closer to a primeval is to Run->turn camera 180º->

Drop Back->

Shadow Step. If he drops back or blinks away before you use

Shadow Step on him he will probably will be fucking you anally with his endless arrow right now, cast

Shadow Step on yourself for the speed buf and try to catch him, pray for a reset or to get in 20m range before he kill you,otherwise, you are dead.

If you succefully

Shadow Step into him there are some different rotations from here on. First of all you need to know that you can’t fear him because of ”intensity” buff (It makes him inmune to fear for 10~ seconds, enough for kill you) If you can run away/stealth when he has it, do it, dont think is a pussy tactic because he will be doing the same ,running from you all fight aswell :D.

If you connect a successful

Focal Concussion after you shadowstep, you want to insta

Earthen Grip so he dont blink away, otherwise he will blink away and everything you did will become useless. Now that you got him where you want you need to try a cancell with

Purge if you cancelled his Intensity you can do the One shot combo explained in the mechanics section and it will be gg, if you dont, the only thing you can do is

Bubble Trap->

Lassitude->

Meteor Strike, you can’t use

Overwhelm and start the ”I believe i can fly combo” because he probably will have shrug it off running because we used

Focal Concussion and he will also have

Freerunner wich gives him a lot of evasion, so you will jump on him and he will just evade your stun, stun you back, get rid of snare, blink away and keep kiting you.

Never try to cast

Freezing Arrow on a 20m Archer, he will just interrupt you by getting out of range.

ALWAYS

Earthen Gripbefore

Bubble Trap no matter what, good archers will interrupt your bubble by using

Shadow Step and then counter-attack with

Overwhelm->

Shadowsmite

The best tip i can give you for this fight is to dont get mad, because you probably will feel a lot of impotence running behind them watching the ” The target is too far away” message .

Dagerspell VS Darkrunners (Battlerage-Shadowplay-Auramancy)

We can say this is a simple fight, destroy or get destroyed, there is no more.

You need to know how they can counter you before you go for it.

1st)He can remove off

Bubble Trap

Earthen Grip

Lassitude

Freezing Earth(ROOT) by using BONDBREAKER.

2nd) They can remove off

Overwhelm

Focal Concussion

Banshee Wail (FINAL STUN) using SHRUG IT OFF.

3rd) They can prevent

Shadowsmite

Purge (SHACKLE/SILENCE)By using LIBERATION.

4rd) He can bait your

Banshee Wail by using TELEPORTATION

The most common way to win a DR is to sleep>meteor them, but it isn’t that easy when you fighting a good one, they can simply bait your fear off and if you fail your fear because a DR blinked away on the same moment you tried to

Shadow Step->

Banshee Wail you will probably be dead now because you lossed your best cc , even if you use lassitude on him he will bondbreaker it ,now you cant root /bubble him and he still have shrug it off aswell , so it means there is no way you can stop him now = he will probably 1 shot you no matter what you try. Then is when most Daggerspells complain about melee’s one shotting them.

If you take a look on the MECHANICS/COMBOS you will see one combo that can bait all his anti-cc in seconds, allowing you to take the advantage of it. Take note this is harder that just

Banshee Wail->

Lassitudeand probably it will take time until you can execute it correctly (Of course you can add some variations there, but the way this combo works/final purpose still the same)

Here is one reason why we take

Stalker’s Mark because of the

Overwhelm effect. He can remove stuns off, but he can’t remove trips so it means if you succefully connected a

Stalker’s Mark->

Shadow Step->

Focal Concussion combo for bait his SHRUG IT OFF, you will be free to

Overwhelm->

Shadowsmitehim, allowing you to do any combo after it.

You can also try to do some kind of kite for see how he react, but i dont really recommend this if you dont know how to use your rotations properly, otherwise he will react better/faster than you.
In any case this combo would be something like:

Stalker’s Mark->(He will probably use it on you aswell you use

Purge on yourself for prevent the trip)

Enervate->(Now he will try to use one of his gapclosers 99%)so you will go

Drop Backbefore he connects the gapcloser and then->

Earthen Grip-> (BEFORE earthen grip arrives) you do

Chain Lightning ->

Shadow Step ->

Focal Concussion ->

Dahuta’s Breath and finish him.

Any strategy you decide to use depends on stop his combo and counter-attack with your CC. If he trips you he will probably stun-lock you until you die, so thats one of the reason why we use

Purge to remove his

Stalker’s Mark + he wont do the 21% Extra damage on us.
If you can get out of the stun and you have low HP the only thing you can try is

Focal Concussion->

Banshee Wail ->

Lassitude->

Insulating Lens ->

Magic Circle ->

Meteor Strike->(BEFORE METEORS FALLS)

Stalker’s Mark->

Overwhelm->

Shadowsmite.
